Louisville Business First: Top adviser Barlow’s tips for weathering stormy markets

Barlow Wealth’s Barry Barlow was recently featured in an article by David Serchuk at Louisville Business First.

All that may be, but what to do when stock markets are volatile?

Barlow said he chooses to focus on the macro picture for how securities have done, meaning their 10-year averages. In that time, stocks have averaged 8 percent to 9 percent returns, and bonds 2 percent to 3 percent. Knowing this, he invests for the long haul.

“We don’t spend a lot of time thinking about short-term issues,” he said, adding that even the savviest market forecasters are often wrong.”
